Adopting Your Pet Has Never Been Easier!

Shelter staff members are dedicated to helping you find a perfect pet that will match your wants, needs and lifestyle.

First, you'll need to think about what kind of animal you're looking for, cat, dog, bunny or reptile; big or small; short-haired or long-haired; energetic or reserved, etc. Second, visit the Shelter or browse adoptables online. Next, speak with Shelter staff or an adoption counselor to find the best match for you. Finally, fill out our short application and you're almost done! Sometimes it's necessary to verify veterinary records, contact property managers/landlords, and perform yard inspections, so even if you can't take your new pet home right away, your wait will not be long.

Adoption Fees:

Dogs & Cats under five years: $75
Dogs & Cats five years and older: $55

These fees include the following services:

A first round of vaccinations, including de-worming
Feline Leukemia/FIV testing for cats
Heartworm testing for dogs
Microchip identification for both dogs and cats
Spay/Neuter surgery for both cats and dogs
A temporary cat carrier

The City of Bloomington Animal Care & Control Division is committed to providing you with healthy, adoptable animals at a reasonable cost. We are doing our best to reduce overpopulation of animals in the Bloomington and Monroe County area by spaying and neutering to prevent unwanted and unneeded litters. Our goal is 100 percent placement of our adoptable feline and canine animals. We need your help to achieve that goal!
