Enjoy free, outdoor performances in venues throughout the city. Bring a lawn chair, a blanket, and a picnic basket and become immersed in the sights and sounds of the Performing Arts Series.

Looking for more, free, Bloomington music? Visit the Bloomington Community Farmers' Market every Saturday from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. and the Tuesday Market from 4-7 p.m. every Tuesday, June through September.

Movies in the Parks

Bloomington Parks and Recreation and the Ryder Film Series present free movies in the parks. Locations include Bryan Park, Reverend Ernest D. Butler Park, and Ferguson Dog Park.

Please be aware that some of the movies may have a rating of PG. We request your assistance in determining if a particular movie is appropriate for your family. Movies begin at dusk; see estimated start time below. Pre-movie activities begin 30 minutes before the movie start time. Rain dates are the Saturday following a rainout.

2017 Performing Arts Series Call to Musicians

The Performing Arts Series takes place at a variety of venues around Bloomington and showcases local musicians. Applications will be available here in October 2016.

Completed applications must be received by Friday, December 2 at 5 p.m. to receive full consideration. There is a $10 application fee. Performers are selected based on type and quality of performance, availability, past performance record, cost, and sponsor interest. For details, call 812-349-3725.

2017 Performing Arts Series Call to Sponsors

Only through the generous patronage of local businesses and organizations is the Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department able to provide FREE concerts and movies to the community. Sponsorship of the Performing Arts Series supports local performers and the community and provides excellent business exposure and name recognition.
