REGULAR PART TIME HEARING OFFICER
CLERK'S OFFICE

POSITION DESCRIPTION
Answers telephone, greets office visitors, determines nature of call or request and responds to inquiries and/or routes caller to appropriate person or department. Receives, reviews, and approves or denies parking ticket appeals. Researches city and state code and occasionally case law to inform determination. Explains parking violations and appeal decisions to citizens and notifies Parking Enforcement of decisions, as necessary. Creates and maintains accurate, up-to-date, and organized computer records and databases. Works, as needed, with the Clerk to draft or review minutes, correspondence, press releases, and speeches.

EDUCATION
High school education, required, or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Bachelor's degree in a related field, preferred.

TRAINING/SKILLS
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. Attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to effectively communicate in a courteous, tactful, and professional manner. Ability to make parking appeal decisions using a methodical and logical approach, supported by research. Ability to draft documents and reports that are accurate and grammatically correct. Ability to prioritize competing demands with minimal supervision.

EXPERIENCE
At least one year of related experience.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION
Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle.

HOURS
12:00 pm - 5:00pm, Monday - Friday

SALARY
$16.00-$18.00/hr
