RISK MANAGER
LEGAL-RISK

POSITION DESCRIPTION
Monitors and analyzes all risks of loss to the City and makes recommendations to eliminate or minimize. Negotiates adjustment of all losses. Distributes the costs of insurance deductibles and premiums between divisions. Coordinates all insurance programs and renewals. Maintains and updates the OSHA manual. Investigates accidents and injuries and cooperates in preparing and presenting information for legal proceedings. Directs quarterly risk management committee and employee safety meetings. Addresses citizen inquiries and complaints. Supervises Risk Management Claims Administrator and Director of Safety and Training. Assists the Director of Safety and Training with safety programs, inspections, and training.

EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with coursework in risk management, insurance, or related areas, required. Three years relevant experience and/or training in insurance claims, claims adjustment, and safety and loss prevention may substitute for education requirement.

EXPERIENCE
Minimum experience equivalent to three years.

TRAINING/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
Broad knowledge of the principles, theories, and practices of the Risk Management profession. Comprehensive knowledge risk financing techniques. Working knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations, workers' compensation law, and tort law. Ability to direct and supervise others, provide leadership for City officials, and effectively communicate in a tactful, courteous, and professional manner. Incumbent must be able to develop new strategies and techniques in order to overcome new and varying types of problems.

Operator Driver's License

HOURS
8-5 p.m. Monday-Friday; other times when needed.

$51,563-$63,019
