ASSISTANCE FROM AN ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER

The City of Bloomington has four Animal Control Officers to serve the incorporated area of the City. The County has two Animal Management Officers in the Sheriff's Department to serve the unincorporated area of the County.

The officers respond to calls for assistance that include:

Officers are available to respond to calls Monday/Wednesday/Thursday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Tuesday/Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. During these hours, please call 812-349-3492 to request assistance. Please keep in mind that the Shelter receives 300 to 400 phone calls per day and you may be connected to our voicemail. Voicemail is checked and calls are returned regularly throughout the day.

After these hours and on Sundays, officers are available to respond to emergency calls only. Calls related to injured animals and bite cases are considered emergencies. All other calls will be responded to during normal business hours. In case of an after-hours emergency, call 812-339-1444 and a dispatcher will contact the officer on call.
