Boletin Comunitario

The Boletín Comunitario is a Spanish language publication of the Community and Family Resources Department which informs Spanish speaking clients and the community about programs, services, and current issues in order to integrate them into the larger Bloomington Community.

Resource Referrals

Latino Outreach Staff spend much of their time doing resource referrals. We treat all calls, emails and walk-ins with the utmost care. Our primary goal is to connect Spanish and English speaking clients to existing resources within the local community in the areas of healthcare, legal assistance, educational opportunities, seasonal tax help, and translation services.

Health Coverage

Bilingual staff are trained to enroll Limited English Proficient individuals and their children in the Hoosier Healthwise Children's Health Coverage Program. Our office is an enrollment center only. The department also provides information on the Healthy Indiana Plan - Health Insurance for Adults and other medical services throughout Monroe County. Click here Community Health Programs and Outreach for more information.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA)

The Community and Family Resources Department helps coordinate the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (Vita) sites throughout the community serving lower income individuals through free tax preparation assistance. Latino Programs has created a bilingual VITA site specifically for Spanish speakers who need help filing their taxes. This program is a collaborative effort between our office, El Centro Comunal Latino, and community volunteers.

Holiday Assistance Program

This gift giving program is one of the most enjoyable programs for the Community and Family Resources (CFRD). During the holidays Latino Outreach staff coordinates a gift matching program for local Latino families in need.
