Road Construction Projects
A primary responsibility of the Engineering Department is to coordinate and provide technical support for City of Bloomington Public Works projects. Our department will typically be involved with a project from conception to completion. The tasks often included with project coordination are:
- Project Design and Review
- Public Meetings to allow citizen input
- Right-of-way Acquisition (coordinate and create legal descriptions, appraisals, offers to purchase, assist in negotiations with property owners)
- Preparation of Bidding Documents and Completion of the Bidding Process (regulated by state and federal laws)
- Construction monitoring and inspection (daily reports, pay requests, public relations, change orders)
- Project Closeout (coordinate and create punchlists; payment and quantity review for final payment)
