Greenhouse Gas Reduction Information

Scientific evidence shows that elevated amounts of greenhouse gases in the atmoshpere can have dangerous impacts on the environment. As a result, the City of Bloomington is committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and output. On April 21, 2006, Mayor Kruzan signed the United States Conference of Mayors' Climate Protection Agreement, which complies with the emission reduction goals of the Kyoto Protocol. The overall goal is to, by the year 2012, reduce the amount of greenhouse gas emissions in Bloomington to seven percent of the levels that were present in 1990.

Listed below are several Environmental Commission documents that specifically address the reduction of Greenhouse Gas emissions. If you have questions, or need additional information on any of this material, please contact the Planning Department at 349-3423, or send an e-mail.
