Rex Grossman Day
Proclamation
| WHEREAS, | Rex Grossman was born in Bloomington, Indiana, on August 23, 1980. He attended Bloomington South High School and led the Panthers to a 9-1 season in 1996, a 14-1 record and state runner-up honors the following year, and helped the Panthers capture the Indiana state championship with a perfect 14-0 season in 1998; and |

| WHEREAS, | Rex's many accomplishments on the football field earned him the state title of Mr. Football in 1998; and |
| WHEREAS, | he continued his winning ways at the University of Florida, where he led the Gators to an SEC Championship and a birth in the 2000 Sugar Bowl; and |
| WHEREAS, | upon graduation from the University of Florida, Rex entered the National Football League (NFL) as a first-round selection by the Chicago Bears in 2003; and |
| WHEREAS, | in his fourth NFL season, Rex helped the Bears claim the National Football Conference championship and blaze their way to Super Bowl XLI; and |
| WHEREAS, | in recognition of his strong character, professionalism and sportsmanship, the National Football League bestowed the prestigious Ed Block Courage Award to Rex in 2007; and |
| WHEREAS, | Rex is committed to giving back to the Bloomington community and will host his third annual golf tournament to benefit the Boys' and Girls' Club on June 28, 2007. |
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Mark Kruzan, Mayor of Bloomington, Indiana do hereby proclaim June 28, 2007, as
Rex Grossman Day
in Bloomington, Indiana, and urge everyone to attend this event to honor those who are fighting cancer and remember the victims we have lost to this disease.
