Ordering GIS Maps and Digital Data

The City of Bloomington will provide hard copy maps produced from its GIS and digital GIS data for a fee. Fees are based on the costs to produce the requested information. City of Bloomington Ordinance 01-10, establishes fees for providing electronic maps and enhanced access to city databases.

All GIS and electronic database materials, and any services which may be provided related thereto, are provided "as-is" without any warranty of any kind, and all warranties on merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose are hereby disclaimed. In no event shall the City of Bloomington be liable to the recipient or any other party for damages of any type, including but not limited to incidental, consequential or exemplary damages arising out of the use or inability to use these materials. This agreement shall be governed by the law of Indiana, where any litigation arising hereunder shall take place. The agreement is the complete and exclusive statement of the agreement between the parties and may be modified only by a written agreement.
How To Order
To request a published map, custom map,or digial data, please fill out, sign, and return the appropriate order form. Order forms may be downloaded from this web page or are available at the City of Bloomington Engineering Department located in Suite 130 at Showers City Hall, 401 N. Morton Street. (Get Directions to City Hall). To receive an order form by mail or by fax, you may call the Engineering Department at 812-349-3417 or email us at gis @bloomington.in.gov.
Requests are generally filled within one to three buisness days. Published maps are printed when ordered so they will have the most current data availalble. The City of Bloomington will accepts cash, checks, money orders, and credit cards for fee payment. Checks should be made out to the City of Bloomington.

Section 1: Published Hard Copy Map Fees
1.1 GIS Map Library
The following fees apply to printing existing cartographic maps. The City of Bloomington GIS Library Map Order Form contains a listing of the published GIS maps. View a list of published hardcopy maps here.

1.2 GIS Map Books
GIS Map Books are multi-sheet photocopy sets of laser print maps published quarterly. A base map book contains streets, railroads, parking lots, buildings, address text, hydrology, and the municipal boundary. See GIS Map Library for individual sheet pricing.

1.3 Black & White Photo Copies
- Large format photo copies of existing hard copy maps for sizes up to 36" x 48" will be $8.00 for the first sheet and $4.00 for each additional sheet.
- 11 x 17 size photocopies shall be $0.25 per copy for requests over 3 sheets.
- Standard letter size photocopies shall be $0.10 per copy for requests over 10 pages.
Section 2: Made to Order Hard Copy Map Fees
2.1 Standard GIS Maps:
GIS maps are created to order in the following sizes to standard scales. See the City of Bloomington Custom Map Order Form for a listing of standard available map layers. Any non-standard graphics, symbolization, or spatial analysis will be an additional cost based on an hourly rate. The City will apply actual cost to any item shipped.

The following fees will apply to custom requests for Bloomington digital GIS data. GIS layers excluding building and contour data are priced per map layer. Building and contour data are priced per 2000 x 3000-foot panel grid.

4.1 Electronic Database & Reports
Custom hourly rates will apply on requests for electronic data or reports requiring custom queries or technical staff hours in addition to media costs. A $4.00 per order processing fee will be accessed per order.
4.2 Custom Service Rates
Rates are applied by the quarter hour with a minimum of 1 hour.

4.4 Additional Fees
Shipping Cost: Actual Cost
The City of Bloomington will quote prices for other electronic data records not detailed in schedule based on hourly Custom Rate and any direct costs associated with program development or passed on from third party consultants.
The City of Bloomington reserves the right to refuse requests for electronic data products or services that may unreasonably interfere with ongoing operations of the City by requiring an inordinate diversion of City manpower, materials, or equipment use or would necessitate utilization of an outside contractor.
