Commission on Hispanic and Latino Affairs Awards Seeks Nominees for Hispanic and Latino Awards

Bloomington, Ind. - The City of Bloomington Commission on Hispanic and Latino Affairs is seeking nominees for the Fifth Annual Hispanic and Latino Awards. The Commission seeks nominations of individuals who have been advocates and role models in the Latino community and who have shown strong qualities, such as leadership, initiative and dedication. The deadline for submissions is Aug. 14. Awards will be presented during the annual kickoff celebration for National Hispanic Heritage Month on Sept. 15 at the Mathers Museum of World Cultures, 416 N. Indiana Ave.

The awards are designed to recognize nominees who have made significant contributions to the Bloomington and/or Monroe County community. Awards will be given in four categories: The Latino Leader Award, Outstanding Latino High School Senior Award, Community Organization/Agency Award and The Latino Community Supporter Award. The criteria for good nominees are people who, through their contributions, have been influential role models, have served as advocates for services and the rights of Latinos and have shown continuous direct and effective involvement in the Latino community. These awards seek to recognize individuals in the following key areas:

Nominations should include the name, address, telephone number and e-mail address of the nominee in addition to the reasons why the nominee merits the award. Those submitting nominations also should include their name, address, telephone number and email address.

Nomination forms can be completed online or can be obtained in the City of Bloomington's Community and Family Resources Department at City Hall, 401 N. Morton St., Ste. 260.
