Bloomington, Ind. - The City of Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department, with special guest City Council member Martin Spechler, will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony to officially open the new playground at Park Ridge Park on Friday, July 24 at 11 a.m.

Park Ridge Park is located at 3421 E. Longview Ave. in the Park Ridge subdivision.

The Bloomington community is invited to explore the new park, which features shaded seating areas, a newly resurfaced basketball court, new playground equipment, new swings, and a new covered grill.

The ribbon cutting ceremony includes brief remarks by Parks and Recreation Department Administrator Mick Renneisen and Councilman Spechler as well as plenty of free play time, a commemorative craft project, and frozen treats.

The $120,000 playground was funded by a 2013 City Council appropriation of capital maintenance funds to the Parks and Recreation Department. The special appropriation helped pay for numerous park improvements and upgrades, including the Bryan Park restroom renovation and the creation of pickleball courts at RCA Community Park.
