City of Bloomington Animal Shelter Promotes Holiday Activities

Bloomington, Ind. - "No matter how you choose to spend the holiday season, this season is best spent with ones you love. Consider adding some love to your home this season." The City of Bloomington Animal Shelter has several activities and promotions occurring during the holiday season.

In an attempt to place more animals in homes for the holiday season, the Shelter will be holding a special "Home for the Holidays" adoption week, beginning Saturday, Nov. 28, 2015, and ending Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2015. Adoption fees will be reduced to $40 for dogs and $20 for cats.

The Shelter and B97 Radio have once again partnered on "The 12 Strays of Christmas" promotion. Starting Dec. 9, 2015, each week day until Dec. 24th, a new dog and cat will be featured on the radio and will be able to go home for a reduced adoption fee of $12. Featured animals will also be promoted on the radio station's facebook page at and on the Shelter's facebook page at

Regular adoption fees are $75 for dogs and cats under age five and $55 for dogs and cats five years and older. Included in the fee are spaying or neutering, vaccinations, microchipping and testing for heartworm or feline leukemia/FIV.

The Animal Shelter's annual holiday supply drive continues with donation boxes set up in many locations around town. Donations can also be dropped off at the Shelter. Community members can help the animals in need by donating any of the following items:
