REGULAR FULL-TIME LABORER
STREET DEPARTMENT

POSITION DESCRIPTION
Maintains and repairs City streets and right-of-ways using various types of equipment such as air
compressor, chipper, shovels, chain saw, rakes, and lutes. Patches streets and alleys using appropriate equipment. Pours and finishes concrete for repair and reconstruction of sidewalks, curbs, inlets, and gutters. Operates dump truck, tractor, small sweeper, and leafer to clean and maintain city streets and right-of-ways, as assigned. Performs general labor including snow removal, flag traffic, and remove debris. Performs vehicle and equipment checks to ensure functionality.

EDUCATION
High school education or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

TRAINING/SKILLS
Working knowledge of and ability to perform maintenance and repair of city streets and right-of ways. Working knowledge and skill in the operation of equipment and hand tools such as air compressor, chain saw, chippers, leafers, lutes, shovels, stump grinder, and rakes. Working knowledge of safety procedures for working around heavy equipment, and/or working around traffic. Ability to follow verbal instructions. Working knowledge of and ability to operate trucks and related equipment. Basic knowledge of the mechanics of light equipment and ability to perform preventative maintenance and minor repair.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION
Commercial Driver's License Type B with Air Brake required. License Type A, preferred.

HOURS
7:00am-3:00pm, Monday-Friday. May be called after hours for emergency work.

SALARY
$17.01-$17.49
