#GivingTuesday 2016


WHEREAS, Giving Tuesday was established as a national day of giving on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving; and
WHEREAS, Giving Tuesday is a celebration of philanthropy and volunteerism. Citizens work together to share commitments, rally for favorite causes, build a stronger community and broaden their understanding of the world around them; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper on Giving Tuesday and every day to recognize the tremendous impact of philanthropy, volunteerism and community service in Bloomington; and
WHEREAS, Giving Tuesday is an opportunity to encourage everyone to serve others, not only during this holiday season, but throughout the year; and
WHEREAS, the City of Bloomington Volunteer Network (BVN) offers information on hundreds of volunteer opportunities in Bloomington and Monroe County and is a proud supporter of Giving Tuesday.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, John Hamilton, Mayor of Bloomington, Indiana do hereby declare November 29, 2016, as #GivingTuesday in Bloomington. Even a small act of kindness can make a big difference.
