TEMPORARY PART TIME CLERICAL ASSISTANT (2 POSITIONS)
PLANNING & TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT

POSITION DESCRIPTION
Performs frontline customer service for the department. Responds to inquiries regarding general zoning questions. Prepares and distributes hearing packets. Prepares, distributes, and maintains case files and packets for various boards, commissions, and committees, as required. Attends day and evening board/commission hearings. Prepares meeting minutes, files and distributes minutes appropriately. Assists MPO staff with meeting preparation, production of documents, and transcribes meeting minutes. Collects fees for appeals, petition filings, permits, zoning information; issues receipts, deposits cash receipts with Controller's Office and posts to appropriate accounts. Processes departmental mail and maintains inventory of department supplies. Assists in maintaining books and accounting forms, processing claims for payment, and related tasks, as assigned.

EDUCATION
Associates degree required or combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge and ability to perform the duties of the position. Bachelor's Degree preferred.

TRAINING/SKILLS
Working knowledge of basic bookkeeping principles and procedures. Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records. Proficiency in computer software for word process, spreadsheets, databases, and desktop publishing packages. Ability to deal with others in a courteous, effective and tactful manner. Working knowledge of standard office procedures and routines and ability to apply knowledge. Ability to word process at a minimum of 50 words per minute with acceptable accuracy. Ability to operate standard office equipment. Knowledge of English grammar and spelling. Ability to perform arithmetic calculations. Strong oral presentation skills.

EXPERIENCE
Minimum experience equivalent to over one year through three years in a busy office setting.

HOURS
20-29 hours per week, schedule varies Monday through Friday with some evening hours.

SALARY
$12-$13.00 per hour
