Get Involved
Volunteering is an important way for individuals, organizations and businesses to make Bloomington a better place to live. Volunteering is not just for high school students who want to become more competitive college applicants; volunteering is for people of all ages, income levels and education. Everyone has something to offer.
Volunteerism in Bloomington
Bloomington is filled with dozens of nonprofit agencies that devote valuable time and resources to making our community better. Volunteers who are talented and compassionate individuals are the lifeblood of these nonprofits.
Volunteer with the City of Bloomington
The City of Bloomington is an active organization that promotes a high quality of life through its various programs and services. Multiple volunteer opportunities are available through the City of Bloomington Volunteer Network Resource Library Catalog and the following City departments:
Staying Connected
The City of Bloomington Volunteer Network has compiled a list of volunteer activities. The Network connects people with opportunities to serve, build the capacity of organizations, promote volunteerism, and provide leadership in strategic initiatives related to volunteerism. A volunteer can easily fulfill a need in the community by searching the Bloomington Volunteer Network's Community Wishlist or the City of Bloomington Volunteer Network Resource Library Catalog.
Diversidad y Inclusiόn (Diversity and Inclusion)
Bloomington
takes the initiative in providing resources for those ethnic communities that
have rapidly grown in the past years. The city allows for those within and
outside of the Latino community to Volunteer
with Latino Programs and Outreach in order to make Bloomington feel like home to those who are
new or transitioning into the community.
Hola Bloomington Spanish Language Radio Program provides a medium to communicate
Bloomington
happenings to the Spanish speaking community along with the E-Noticiero de la Comunidad sent out
electronically every week.
Committing to a Cause
There are a number of ways to commit to a cause in Bloomington. The City
offers hundreds of volunteer opportunities in order to give back to the
community. Along with this, there are many more opportunities to take on a
commitment that involves environmental adoption or animal caretaking. One may Adopt a Trail, volunteer at the Animal Shelter, or become an Animal Shelter Foster Guardian. The City of Bloomington Indiana prides
itself on its quality of nurturing its habitat and its furry friends.
