Animal Care and Control

Animal Care & Control operates the City of Bloomington Animal Shelter and is the primary provider of animal-related services for Bloomington and Monroe County.

Fleet Maintenance

Fleet Maintenace is responsible for the maintenance of over 465 vehicles and numerous pieces of equipment. We provide preventative maintenance, both major and minor repairs, emergency call out service and we maintain two fueling sites. In 2008, Fleet began providing fueling opportunities for County owned vehicles which has greatly benefited the County.

Sanitation

The Sanitation Division provides curbside service collections of trash, recycle and yard waste to residences within the city limits. Use the myBloomington tool to find your trash and recycle day.

Street Division

The Street Division provides maintenance and repair for The City of Bloomington's 237 miles of streets. Specific functions include street resurfacing, the repair and construction of sidewalks and curbs, snow removal, street sweeping, and leaf collection, manages the planning, maintenance and operation of traffic and street name signs, pavement markings, street lights and traffic signals . In addition, the department provides care and maintenance of trees in the public right of way in order to safeguard against accidents and help keep our City trees looking their best.


Engineering guidance is now provided by the Transportation Services Division of the Planning and Transportation Department. This department provides comprehensive transportation planning activities and implements public infrastructure designs that are consistent with the planning, development and growth policies of the City of Bloomington.
