Unified Development Ordinance (UDO)

Environmental Planning

The Environmental Planning Division is charged with providing environmentally oriented review of all the development proposals. It also coordinates the review and evaluation of the City's Environmental Commission, as well as being tasked with providing project management leadership on issues of environmental significance.

The Long Range Planning division is responsible for preparing and implementing the long range plans and programs that guide the growth and development of Bloomington

Neighborhood Planning

The City's Neighborhood Planning Initiative allows neighborhoods, through a comprehensive planning process, to construct a clear vision of their overall needs and priorities. The final product of this effort is a living document that enhances not only the individual neighborhood, but the entire City of Bloomington as well.

Transportation Planning

The Transportation Planning Division provides traffic analysis, planning, and develops corridor studies and roadway projects. It also works closely on bicycle and pedestrian transportation policies and planning.

Bloomington/Monroe County Metropolitan Planning Organization (BMCMPO)

The Transportation Planning Division also serves as staff for the BMCMPO, which is an intergovernmental transportation policy group.
