How To Volunteer

Our volunteers are our most important asset and they do a remarkable job helping us help the animals. Volunteers help in almost every capacity of our operation. We are sure to have an opportunity that suits your interests and abilities. If you would like to join our volunteer team, here is what you need to do.

  • Complete an application. Applications are available at the Shelter or fill out our online form (you will leave this website).
  • Be 16 years of age or older. Youth ages 13-15 can volunteer but must be accompanied by a parent for all volunteer sessions.
  • Attend a Volunteer Orientation Session. You will be contacted to reserve your spot after you submit your application.
  • Be able to make a commitment to volunteer once per week for at least 6 months.

If you have any questions you may contact the Volunteer Program Director, Kathy Obrakta, at 812-349-3872, or email her at shelter-volunteer@bloomington.in.gov
