About the ITS Department
The mission of ITS is to provide--through the forward-looking application of information technology--the omnibus IT services, tools, training and resources necessary to maintain mission-critical City systems, empower City staff to excel in their work, and to provide information and engage our community electronically in its own governance.
At ITS we:
- Maintain and repair the City's desktop computers and resolve computer problems for City employees.
- Manage the City's Geographic Information System (GIS) and provide mapping and data services.
- Coordinate IT purchasing for the City and provide IT training to City Staff.
- Manage the City's network infrastructure, computer hardware and software systems.
- Manage the City's Bloomington Digital Underground network infrastructure.
- Maintain the City's website and develop open source applications to facilitate e-government.
- Engage the Bloomington community through collaborative projects, programs and services.

The City of Bloomington is happy to announce its completion of the 2012 Google Summer of Code program. The City was selected to receive student programming assistance and serve as a mentoring organization in March. |
