Art Thrives Here.

The City of Bloomington recognizes that the arts are an important part of the culture and economy of the community, and that the City has a responsibility to foster an environment conducive to arts participation. The conservation and development of the city’s artistic resources are essential to its social, educational, and economic growth. Artists, works of art, and artistic institutions contribute to the quality of life and the general welfare of the citizens of Bloomington and are an appropriate matter of concern to the government of the city.

2023 - 2027 Public Art Master Plan

The Bloomington Arts Commission is excited to release its 2023 - 2027 Public Art Master Plan to empower our community to continue to support, invest in, and take advantage of Bloomington’s legacy of local public art and culture.  The Plan showcases examples of what’s been done before and includes tools to enable local artists, community members, neighborhood groups, small businesses, and others to realize their own public art projects - block party, a parade, a mural, an afternoon showcase of a neighbor’s pottery practice. We invite you to use this as an opportunity creatively to express yourself, your business and patrons, your community, and your city. Read the Plan here.
