Traffic Suggestions

I live in Blue Ridge on the north side of town and cross the Dunn/45-46 intersection daily to get to work. This intersection not only has high traffic due to daily Bloomington traffic, but also has high traffic with visitors for game days and other IU events. This intersection needs to be reworked to help with traffic flow and safety. (1) Driving south through the intersection on Dunn there is only a green light (no green arrow or yellow yield arrow like other traffic signs around town.) People frequently turn left immediately on green without yielding, causing several near accidents (happened to me twice just this week.) (2) Going northbound on Dunn -- there are 3 lanes - 1 to turn left, 1 to go straight onto North Dunn, and 1 to turn right. Although there is a sign that says turn left, almost daily people are turning left from the "straight traffic" lane, again causing issues with traffic and safety. I believe there needs to be a sign that says "straight ahead only" -- similar to the signs on South Walnut near Kroger/Seminary Square. As someone who drives this intersection daily, I am always prepared for someone to incorrectly cross through these intersections, but for 90% of people who do not, especially people going to/from IU on visits and other events and/or are from out of town, this is extremely unsafe.

There is an URGENT need for a stop light at the intersection of 10th street and John Hinkle Place with Woodbridge Apartments. Specifically, children are crossing that intersection every day to board school buses. I have personally witnessed occasions when cars traveling both east and west in 10th street have had to apply brakes in an emergency manner to avoid fatalities. I can assure you it is only a matter of time before pedestrians and vehicles will be involved in accidents resulting in fatalities. The City of Bloomington is hereby put on notice that unless this emergency situation is not addressed the result will be fatalities. As an attorney, I can assure you that the City is legally liable WHEN these fatalities occur. Thank you. Randall Smith 650 Woodbridge Drive Bloomington IN 47408 Telephone: 812 325 1226. Is there any way to lower Greenway speed limits to 20? We've been having speeding, including at night, and not sure if it may help at all as we await hopeful calming structural improvements. Thank you!

Stop light is not needed at John Hinkle and 10th per some reporter but is needed at the substantially busier and more dangerous intersection of Smith and 10th.

Hello, I am filing this report to follow up on open case #181958 regarding "Cross-traffic does not stop" indication signs to be added to the West- and East-facing stop signs. I would like to see this report acted upon as there have been more collisions and near-misses since I originally reported this intersection and as a nearby resident, it would reduce the extra noise (honking, collision sounds, yelling, etc) off an already very busy/noisy street, and I worry for the safety of drivers, especially those unfamiliar with this unique intersection that are most at risk for causing an accident to occur. Thank you for your consideration in this important matter, and I hope my remarks are helpful as you move forward to a solution.

The cover of one of the new boxes in the ground for the fiber optic cable is off. This makes a deep hole about 1.5 x 3 feet that a small child or dog could step into.

The overhang to Bubs burgers is far too low. As a tall person, I have to go around it and step into the road.
Why are sidewalks discriminating against tall individuals? I pay taxes to maintain this area and deserve to be able to walk freely on that side of the street.

This is the 4th time I've reported this issue (previously reported Oct. 12, Nov. 15, Dec. 12, 2022). On the west side of N. Williams St. between 8th and 9th Sts. (location: 39.170070, -86.543292), the yard is so overgrown that it blocks half the width of the street, making it difficult to navigate when other cars are approaching during most of the year and impossible to navigate when snow plowing further narrows the passage.

As of this afternoon, I have orange and red flags marching across my front lawn, far from the utility easement. I don't think there are electrical or TV cable wires there at present. Is ATT about to put them there?

Tent at the corner of Walnut and E Second, in front of a bench in front of World Food Market.
Is it legal to set up a tent there?
