Over the past few weeks, recycling has been strewn about the streets throughout Eastern Heights. It appears that papers and other lightweight items are floating out when the carts are being dumped into the truck.

This morning when I went out to gather up my carts I noticed that the bar that goes across the middle of the front of my small trash cart was only in one hole. The bar fell completely off completely as I pulled the cart up the driveway. I assume that bar is essential for emptying the cart. Do you have any advice about how I can get the bar to fit back in both holes? At the moment it’s in one hole and angled up at about a 30 degree angle, which doesn’t seem very useful. Just out of curiosity, what is the expected life-span of the carts? They are already starting to look beat up. My recycling cart has a piece missing on the corner of the lid. My trash was not collected and I did not receive a non-collection notice.
lid must be closed for pickup, carts should be 4 feet apart, all recyclables must be in cart
