My basement has flooded due to street runoff twice within the last 7 years and has ruined my furnace and water heater. I am requesting the city pour a curb along the front of my street where my house is facing to prevent future damage.
Hello - I am the homeowner at 102 South Waldron St. here in Bloomington. This past Friday my basement flooded an excessive amount (3 feet) due to water buildup on Waldron Street. This has happened 4 times over the past 6 years I have lived here because the water has nowhere to go due to the flat area at the bottom of Waldron Street. I am requesting a storm drain be installed on Waldron Street just North of my house and in front of 100 South Waldron Street. My neighbors basement has also been severely flooded over the years due to water buildup from the street - the homeowners name is Simon Ladd. We both have sub pumps in our basements (I actually have 2) and it still doesn’t solve the flooding issue. I have spoken to Mr. Ladd and we both agree the best solution is for the city to install a storm drain. My number is 812-369-0765. I am requesting a ditch or pipe be installed in the wooded easement south of my property that will move the water out to the storm drain that was recently installed last year on Waldron Street in front my house. On April 13th of this year, we received a lot of rain in just a couple hours and I noticed most of the water was coming from the wooded easement South of my house and running down into my yard, pooling up and overflowing down near my basement (where i've had flooding from the street runoff in years past). Please view cameras and check the water lines in Prospect Hill. Today Travis Knight, Tony McDowell, Ernie Wright, Shane Terrell and Ryan Corbin robbed my house and stole my mail and possibly poured gasoline in the outside water lines and hook up
Homeless man and friends congregating in the building and trades park - upper shelter house. Drinking most days of the week. I Have witnessed them drinking a case of bud lite as well as pouring a handle of liquor into their water bottles. This would not normally bother me, however I am a homeowner in the near vicinity. I have witnessed a decline in the amount of people bringing their kids to the park due to this increase in the homeless population as well as their increase in how comfortable they (I.e. Dogs off leash, air mattress, sleeping bags, etc). I have recently done a lot of work to my house and am worried that this activity in this park will affect my property value. I would appreciate if there was some way to address this homeless population in my neighborhood park. If there could be more patrols by the park at random times throughout the day as well as at at night (they sleep under the shelter house as well) I feel that it may help stop some of this activity. As a young female; I am hesitant to contact the police at each one of these instances for fear of retaliation/they know where I live/may know it's me calling.
I don't have a current photo but particularly since the utility work completed on this stretch of road the parking spots in front of the shops flood and hold water. The gradient actually seems to slope away from the drain instead of towards. As a result, we frequently have to bail out the parking spots to make them usable for customers. Flooding issues include the accessible parking spot, which poses a risk to the mobility impaired. How can we best collaborate on a solution? Thanks!
Sewer water is coming up through my basement floor drain due likely to a blockage somewhere in the sewer pipe line.
The stormwater grates at West Fourth and Fairview literally had small bushes growing in the sediment. I cleaned them again today-but why oh why can't these be part of regular maintenance? When they are blocked, which is most of the time, the water gets 6-8 inches deep at the alley near my house. I brought this to council last year when the city voted to raise fees and was promised by the director (Vic?) that this would be remedied. I have yet to see a clean up schedule or to see a worker ever clean these grates or clean the streets. I'm sick of it. There seems to be no dearth of resources for curbs and flower boxes and traffic restriction work. Why can't the city maintain the streets and storm sewers in a systematic fashion? What is the schedule for cleaning?
The dog water fountain has not been working for many weeks.
