I live on the east side of town and frequently drive through the Hillside Drive roundabout. There is an irrigation system around the roundabout which seems like a terrible waste of money and water by the city. This is particularly true when the sprinklers are working despite the ample rain of the last few months. Also, if you drive through the roundabout around 8pm you will notice that the sprinklers in the north east corner of the roundabout spray out over the traffic lane which is an additional waste of water all to keep a little bit of grass green. I think the city should have landscaped this and all other roundabouts using native and drought tolerant plants and little if any grass so that money and water are not wasted keeping the area green.

Dear City of Bloomington Staff, Thank you for your excellent service! Bloomington is very well-maintained and I feel very much at home here. I am a regular user of the Winslow Woods Park at 2120 S. Highland Ave. Just outside the tennis courts, there is a water fountain. I was wondering, is there a way you could install a hydration station there? They have them at my campus (Indiana University) and they provide clean, filtered water to students. If a hydration station is impractical, could a Brita Hydration System (http://www.britahydrationstation.com/) be an alternative? I drink regularly from the fountain and would very much appreciate a source of clean, filtered water there. Thank you very much, Olivia Lograsso

Harold Evans e-mailed the department: this morning I read about one of your program offers in our local newspaper. Since I'm interested in water distribution in our city, I thought this tour of the many historical water sources in Bloomington could be worthwhile. The article directs us to sign up for this tour at our city website. There is no mention anywhere on that site about this particular event and many attempts to search for it were fruitless. I then contacted someone in your department by phone who didn't know anything about the event either. It seems to me that the signup process for events like this is so difficult that I really don't see how a sufficient number of people would ever be able to register in order to make the tour happen. If this is how you run your activity offers, I can see why you might look good to the city managers, but in fact, not be doing anything worthwhile at all. The way you are running your department, Mr. Renneisen, is a joke. It looks like this is another example of how our tax money is wasted on worthless politicians. Have a good and QUIET day. I just received a call from Louisa Purcell who lives on Kirkwood Ave. She was very distraught because she saw someone in a white city truck watering "little" trees on Kirkwood. She feels that we should be conserving water because if we don't in these dry conditions we will have a water emergency! She just wanted to pass along that complaint!

This apt is in the Woodland Springs complex. apt #B 22. tenant says the roof leaks and she has to use a plunger to get the toilet to flush. She said the landlord gave her the plunger and told her to use each time they flush. The toilet runs over often and they end up with ankle deep water.
