I have traveled High Street between Arden Rd. and 3rd Street twice a day for the last ten years. Every time there is a heavy rain, water accumulates and flows down High Street between E. Mores Pike and 2nd St. forcing me to move to the other lane to avoid going through large amounts of water creating a very unsafe situation. I was delighted to see this section of High Street repaved last summer and noticed the sewers also being worked on. I assumed, incorrectly, that the runoff problem would be corrected during this maintenance project. Since the paving the runoff has actually gotten worse. Are there plans to fix this unsafe situation so cars can travel safely on High Street without endangering drivers and pedestrians? I regularly see in the Herald Times where is city is allocating and spending money on hiking and biking trails, sidewalks and various pedestrian conveniences. We have city built ditches/basin along the streets for rainwater drainage in the area. I recently noticed there is a big hole in the middle of the ditch, lots of the water goes into that hole when it rains, looks like it keeps getting worse. Can you send someone to take a look, and get the hole patched please? Storm ditch has lots of water in it, and plant life growing.Needs to be cleaned out.

We have cleaned the tops of the grates in front of our building but can not clean the culvert in the ditch, which is clogged with debris. We also have one grate that has erosion barrier under the grate which won't allow water to pass through as it is packed with mud. We were flooded in 2008. We were within a foot of it entering our building early last Saturday morning. Please send someone to address this issue before Friday. We can not survive another flood.

The low area of this block (1100 South between Washington and Lincoln) is in the old alley and is first flooded by the overflowing ditch along Davis Street and then water continues to flow up from damage pipe clean outs even when water in the ditch has lowered. The water peaked at about 1 foot higher than shown in the attached picture. There is a storm sewer manhole behind this garage, but no inlets are nearby. Is sanitary sewer infiltration to blame for this? Would fixing the clean outs lead to backups inside homes?

After the heavy rain on 2/7/19 a pipe in the alley behind 1107 S Washington St continued to push water up even after the water level in the Davis street ditch went down.

We live on the corner of Acuff Road and Kinser Pike. Under the thick layer of soil and big pile of leaves lies our metal storm drain. Rain rushes and washes dirt from the farm field behind our house via the deep trench along the side of Acuff Road (obviously we have NO curbs or rain gutters), and all that debris ends up on top of our storm drain. The drain is consistently covered and therefore clogged, so all the rain water rushes right over it and flows onto Kinser Pike. We are constantly cleaning all the collected debris from the grate even though we pay for this cleaning/maintenance service on our monthly water bill. We are in desperate need of a solution to this problem.

This is a follow-up to case # 167833. So the storm drain was uncovered, which is good, however, all the debris that was covering it was thrown in our yard--very much NOT appreciated!!! Now, we have to clean that up. Plus, the 4 or so inches of silt/sand/soil in front of the grate is keeping the rain water from reaching the storm sewer as seen in my photo. We received rain today, and it just collected on the road.
