Water Utility Problems

315 E 7th ST

Case Date:
2/5/2019

Dear Bloomington water department., Last week my pipes froze your team came to my home promptly and turned off the water right after calling for an emergency shut off at the meter. I am back to town and would like to have your team come back to my home and turn the water back on at the meter. Please let me know if this can happen this afternoon, I would like to be at the house when the water is turned back on so that I can deal with any water issues if I have a broken pipe. Thank you! Sewer Problems (Storm Sewers)

1562-1802 S Rogers St, Bloomington, Indiana, 47403

Case Date:
2/5/2019

There are two storm pipes located just north of the IMI concrete facility on Rogers, directly across the street from the warehouse. One storm pipe appears to be mostly blocked by debris (lumber, branches, some plastic and other trash). The second pipe is mainly blocked by a large dam of branches. Water is slowly flowing over the dam and draining through the southern pipe. Yesterday, 04 Feb, the water level appeared to be approximately 6 inches above the makeshift dam.

Sewer Problems (Storm Sewers)

2821 E Tapps TURN

Case Date:
2/6/2019

My Name is Josh Goodman and I live at 2821 E Tapps Turn, 47401. My gutters drain into an underground drain tile system (pvc pipe) and, as best as I can tell, this system drains east to west, runs under my backyard, and then hooks into the storm sewer (somewhere underground) on the east side of Sare Rd just north of where Buttonwood Rd intersects Sare Rd. I've been having issues for a while with the system backing up causing water to bubble out of the drain tile and down into the ground right next to the house. This tends to only happen during medium to heavy downpours. I had Roto Rooter come out with their pressurized water snake and camera and we cleaned out the entire system up until the point where it enters the storm sewer, but the issue still persists. There was a little bit of debris (leaves, etc.) but nothing that would cause the issue I'm seeing. Would it be possible for someone in the Utility Department to come out to my property to take a look to see if there is anything that can be done on the City's side to remedy this issue? I can be reached at 812-671-0049. Thanks, Josh

City Performance

2801 S Leonard Springs RD

Case Date:
2/7/2019

Due to the recent re-paving of Leonard Springs Rd, all water drainage that used to bypass my house now floods directly into my driveway, yard, and garage. I am concerned that my house will flood in the current heavy rain. Please advise.

Sidewalk & Curb Complaints

501 N Morton ST

Case Date:
2/7/2019

When will curbs be updated in Park Ridge East? Inadequate in many areas and allows water to overflow along sides, corners, and otherwise not drain properly. Please even if few years out have a plan for this. Thank you! Wanted to make sure it was on the radar, even if long distance.

Case Date:
2/7/2019

I would like to thank the city of Bloomington for their professional assistance in helping me avoid a significant problem at my home during the recent snap of epic cold weather. It all began with frozen water pipes when I failed to keep a small stream of water running in my city townhouse; there was no excuse on my part for the mistake. To make matters worse, I needed to catch a flight out of town later that day. This is where the city came to the rescue. I quickly and easily found the city utility web site and created a work ticket from the easy to follow instructions. Literally within minutes, a highly trained and cordial city employee called me and walked me through the steps I needed to take to reduce any potential damage to my water pipes. Only minutes later, a two person team arrived and worked in zero degree weather and quickly turned off the water at the meter. They went so far as to reassure me that they would be back soon after I got back to town and to just give them a call. Despite the near zero temperature, they never once complained about the outdoor working conditions. I was impressed. When I got back to town, I created another work ticket, and the customer service process repeated itself, leading to a perfect resolution to the problem. I was very impressed with the entire process - a total Rock Star performance from everyone on the city team. Craig Medlyn Bloomington
