Water Utility Problems

104 S Bryan AVE

Case Date:
1/8/2018

Our water hasn't been working since Sunday. The employee who came out then said the pipe was frozen from meter to main and that a crew would be out. A crew has not been out today and I am trying to find out when one will be and when we can expect to have water on again.

Water Utility Problems

1500 E Maxwell LN

Case Date:
1/23/2018

Reported to Mike Carter via email 1/11/18. Reporting to uReport as well. FYI. With the new snow, it’s a lot easier to see where the leak is at. I hope you had a nice long weekend… Best, Rick On Jan 11, 2018, at 2:27 PM, Rick Birch Dietz wrote: Mike, here’s the scoop on the leak we discussed. Thanks! I live at 1500 E Maxwell Ln. I’m at the SE corner of Maxwell and Sheridan. There appears to be water pooling on east side of Sheridan near the western entrance to my driveway. I noticed ice here a few times last winter but thought it was just frozen road runoff and it wasn’t super cold last year so ice build-up wasn’t significant. But it’s been well below freezing and there shouldn’t be standing water. I didn’t observe anything like this in the spring, summer or fall. I assume there’s a small water line leak underground, perhaps underneath the road. The road is cracked along the edge so there may be some freeze/thaw going on. It doesn’t seem to be an emergency — the flow seems pretty minimal but it does generate some ice south of the wet area when below freezing. I wanted to report this now that I realize what is going on. I placed a stake with orange flagging tape in the area where it seems like water is coming to the surface. Thanks for looking into this. Thanks, R <IMG_4655.jpeg>

Potholes, Other Street Repair

701-715 South Mitchell Street

Case Date:
2/18/2018

I am the owner-occupier at 1604 E University St. January 8-10, a water line had frozen and was repaired under the gravel alley that leads to the driveway/parking spots at the back of my house (and 3 other residences). At the conclusion of the repair, the two large holes that had been dug to access the water line had been filled in and some new gravel was spread over them. I do not believe that enough gravel was replaced, as the alley is now incredibly uneven and there are several large low spots that make it difficult to navigate, especially in the recent icy/snowy conditions. Is it possible for the City to add some more gravel to the alley?

The Water hydrant at 7th and Spring Street has been neglected for years. I asked the Utilities Department to fix it last year, but nothing has been done about it. Can you get it painted before the election?

I am a resident of Bloomington and live at: 3445 Constance Avenue I am enrolled in a college course called Environmental Technology. I have a project to perform and was asked by my instructor for the following items of the city where I live, Water Treatment Facility. 1. Types of pipe material 2. Initial cost of the water treatment system 3. Design water flow rate 4. Number of water towers and pumping stations 5. Problems with the system since it was built in 1967 6. Change in elevation from highest to lowest compared to where the location of water treatment facility 7. Types of disinfectant used I found three websites with a lot of information that I need but is there any other sites that would give me some of the answers to the questions listed above? I called the site at 812- 824-9311 with little success. thank you for your time. Sincerely, Joe Schartz

Sidewalk Requests

Case Date:

This is a tree plot / water meter pit issue, a follow up on #168554. The meter in question is at 514 S Fess. You all couldn't it because someone---safety-conscious resident maybe, or self-motivated meter reader apparently had filled the hole in with dirt and tamped it tight. So, yes, resolved
