The safety rail overlooking the water on the north side of Miller Showers is missing on a few feet of the railings. It's the north side by the 2 concrete face statues. This is a safety hazard and a child or dog could easily fall through.
Water fountain issue - Sherwood Oaks Park, by tennis courts: Would it be possible to get the water fountain pressure adjusted so that the water flow is correct? Right now, the pressure is so low/insufficient, you literally would have to put your mouth over the spigot to get any water out of it. Thank you!
The small karst feature (sinkhole) on the northeast side of Weimer Lake (in Wapehani Park) has greatly increased in size and depth over the last several months, and the lake is draining away! The water level has dropped by a few feet, and the lake surface has shrunk by half. The city already lost one reservoir this way in the 1940s (the one in Leonard Springs Park); would not it be a shame to lose another one? Is there a way to plug the hole (dumping a truckload of gravel and cement into it, perhaps?) before the entire lake flows aways? The picture shows the lake and the sinhole as of a week or so ago; since then, the water level dropped another foot or two, as the sinkhole's draining point is now much deeper than it was back then. And there seems to be more space for further drop...
At Karst Farm Park… Drinking water not on or working!! Why??
I'd like to invite one of my friends to one of the classes: Utilizing Water in the Landscape, but there is no way to share the course description with him! Ordinarily I would cut and paste the description from a .pdf, but the format the Summer 2013 Program Guide is in doesn't let me do that. Hi, there. Not sure who to send this to, so I'm hoping you can forward it on. First, I recently came across this idea of closing streets (temporarily) to allow kids to play. I think it would be amazing to see something like this in Bloomington. http://www.reading.gov.uk/residents/community-and-living/play-streets/ Secondly, I took my three year old to Touch a Truck this year. What a wonderful event! We had a blast. He has been every year of his life, but this was the first time I was able to go with him. I wanted to give my feedback about the amount of candy at the event. It seems like it was everywhere and several other moms I talked to were really upset about it (especially since a lot of it was hard candy or really chewy stuff that can be a choking hazard for very young children). I think the trucks are the main event and the kids are so excited to see them. Adding candy to the mix just complicates things unnecessarily. Personally, I was really surprised to see the giant colors of fruit drinks (which I assume were donated by Pepsi). It was SO hot outside. I had forgotten our water bottles and really would have loved a drink of cold water. Our kids don't drink fruit drinks, so we just waited until we left and got water bottles elsewhere. But I would hope that Parks & Rec is all about encouraging healthy bodies, right? Maybe Pepsi could bring some water next year. Thanks.
Water fountain along Jackson Creek trail near the Sherwood Oaks park is not working.
There southern loop of Pine Meadows Dr is riddled with potholes. Crews attempted to fix them one day during a heavy rain and the water was so deep, whatever mix went into the potholes didn't stay. They need patched all the way up and down that southern loop of Pine Meadows Dr.
East University Street between Jordan and Eastside is in pretty bad shape - lots of potholes, general disrepair, it's difficult to traverse (the absolute worst of it is right at Jordan and University). I see another part of East University Street is slated for paving in July, it would be really great if you could just keep going across all of East University Street! (There is also currently a water leak issue at Eastside and University which we reported last night that's going to cause additional road damage). Genuine thanks for all you do!
Could your department please look into why Leonard Springs Rd always floods near the Van Buren Apartments. The ditches hold water and because the road dips in the same area the road is always flooded when it rains as well. Thank you Laura Lane
