Water Utility Billing Problems

Dear Bloomington Utilities, I am writing to bring your attention to an urgent matter regarding an unusually high water bill that I have received. My name is Kumar Vinayak, and I am a resident at 3220 E John Hinkle Pl, Apt D, Bloomington, IN, 47408. I hope that you can assist me in resolving this issue promptly. Upon reviewing my recent bills, I have noticed a significant discrepancy in the water consumption. In the month of April, the recorded consumption was approximately 30 gallons, while in May, it unexpectedly increased to 35 gallons. These figures are undoubtedly incorrect, as such a volume of water cannot be reasonably consumed by a single individual. To address this concern, we immediately contacted our leasing office, as we suspected a possible emergency situation or water leakage within our house. They promptly responded by inspecting the property thoroughly but found no signs of any leaks or abnormal water usage. This observation leads us to believe that the issue may lie with the meter or its readings, as it seems to be continuously running even when the house is unoccupied. Given our status as students, it is financially burdensome for us to pay the exorbitant amount of approximately $1000 for water alone. This kind of billing discrepancy is highly abnormal, as it greatly surpasses our electricity bill, which amounts to approximately $100 per month. I kindly request your immediate attention to this matter and urge you to investigate the issue thoroughly. I have attached a copy of the bill for your reference. I believe it is essential to rectify this situation as soon as possible to avoid any further financial strain on our part. Thanks for replacing curb removed to repair water main break. But, will the city fill the space behind the new curb to prevent erosion and standing water? The yard was dug up by the city to work on the water pipe.

Our water usage volume has almost tripled in Jan, Feb and Mar of 2023 compared to Oct, Nov and Dec of 2022.From about 11K gallons to around 33K gallons per month. Something does not seem right. I believe our facilities manager did have a plumbing company look to see if they could find any issue but I don't believe they did. Can someone take a look at this issue? On the night of 3/24 we experienced a backup of sewage into the entire walkout basement level of our house. I don't know yet if the issue is on our property or begins with the city sewer lines but I felt it should be report as it was a huge backup resulting in 1-3 inches of water filling our entire basement which is now being gutted.

Drainage or Runoff

As can be seen in the photo there are three dry creek beds (swales) feeding the area where the runoff water is pooling during a heavy rain fall. Cause of the pooling is the drain through a small ridge is eroded and clogged up. City needs to remedy this issue.

hello, i live in South crest estates Bloomington IN, for weeks now there has either been NO water, barely any pressure, or just drips coming out. We have Spoke to Management here, and they say it has to do with the city. My children have been in the middle of showers, and it turns off bc there is NO PRESSURE it is NOT okay anymore, it is flu season, people are sick, people need to shower, PEOPLE NEED WATER. Like i said i and multiple others have tried to talk to management but they say they can’t do anything. This is a health hazard and it needs to be solved, i have kids that are sick and puking and we can not even flush the puke down. it will only allow me to include (1) photo so here is that. Please get back to me ASAP because this is not okay, thank you.!

Re: 4784 S Abington Ave Acct: 89652-002 Please look at water bills for Dec, Jan, Feb. There was a broken water meter that resulted in an extreme excess of charge to my account. The water meter has since been fixed. However, since this was out of my control and I had no bearing in the broken water meter, nor its repair, I am hoping there can be some concession on my utility account.
