called into city hall - K.Cummings, AHA inputting this issue -- John stated that he has called several times regarding this issue - there are two storm drains, one directly in front of his residence and another that is across the street that are in need of repair. John advised that the grates are too low, causing them to consistently get debris on them, causing flooding.

For years there has been a strong sewer smell in the this area. (I have paid for plumbers to examine my house and the problem is not in the house.) As the cable workers have been laying the cable, I asked various if they also smelled the sewer odor and if they knew where it might be coming from. There were three basic answers: (1) A "lift station" in one of the drains may be faulty; (2) the terrain where sewage may back up at the crest of the hill; and (3) the manhole cover between houses at 909 West Gourley Pike is old and may be corroded so that the sewer gas is able to escape.

Wednesday, August 9 The catch basin on the west side of the street just north of where the Indiana Rail Road crosses Pete Ellis Drive seems to be plugged somewhere underneath the road. Debris doesn’t pile up on the grate the way it used to, and the large puddle I observed after this afternoon’s thunderstorm was draining only slowly. On W. 9th St at the gutter drain just to the west of the BUtler Park Community gardens Parking lot, there is an increasingly large hole that I fear a person, bike, or eventually a car might fall into.

The storm sewer on Franklin Road, just as it makes a 90-degree turn, is blocked. It does not drain water very well and accumulates. There are other storm sewers near that area that also need cleared.

The drain covers in the 300 block of E. 7th street come loose and pop off whenever a car drives over them. The road is so narrow on the street due to bike lane that the west bound traffic comes too close to the curb and hits the drain covers. Can the city weld them down so they don't pop off?

All the storm water runoff from the White Oak Cemetery basin, during very hard rains, cannot be handled by the 4-storm drains near the intersection of 7th and Oak Streets. The excess is diverted through the gravel parking of our neighbor at 1025 W 7th, washing the gravel onto the street. The storm water then turns and washes through the alley between 6th & 7th Streets. It then goes through our carport and yard washing our mulch away in places. Oak street was paved in the past and is higher than the storm drain at 7th and Oak so any excess water has do go through the gravel parking instead of down the street. I would be happy to meet someone to look at this problem. Thanks.
