POSITION DESCRIPTION

Proposes, implements, and oversees events, programs, and activities that serve fewer than 3,000 participants. Maintains Community Events inventories and resources. Purchases equipment and supplies. Administers all aspects of assigned seasonal events including communicating with staff and participants, developing schedules, reserving facilities, supervising staff, monitoring activities. Provides marketing support to Community Relations Managers and executes marketing strategies. Trains and supervises part-time staff, volunteers, and interns. Effectively addresses public concerns and questions. Serves as on-site supervisor or instructor for various events. Represents the department at several community meetings, reports findings, and makes recommendations to Community Events Coordinator. Maintains records and submits activity reports. Works on department wide special events and maintains a safe working environment.

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree in recreation administration, education or related field is required or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.


TRAINING/SKILLS

Working knowledge of event design, planning, and implementation. Thorough knowledge of a full range of theories and principles accepted in the field of recreation. Ability to prepare and maintain accurate financial records and reports. Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum experience equivalent to one year.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION

Ability to obtain certification in American Red Cross first aid, CPR, and AED. Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle.

HOURS

8:00am – 5:00pm, Monday – Friday, evenings/weekends, holidays as needed

SALARY RANGE

$32,000 - $34,000
