About the Program

The primary goal of the Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Commission's (BPSC) Bicycle Instructor Corps program is to improve access to quality bicycling education for Bloomington residents. The program will train local residents through the League of American Bicyclists' League Certified Instructor (LCI) program, and coordinate the regular delivery of courses to targeted audiences throughout the community.

The BPSC believes building a bicycle- and walk- friendly community is more than just a "build it and they will come" approach. Comprehensive bicycling education helps people feel more confident about getting on a bike, ensures that people on bikes know how to ride safely and legally, and encourages the acceptance of bicycling by other road users.
