About Gypsy Ridge Farms

Mark Stoll grew up on a farm, and his earliest memories are of a vegetable farm. He worked in construction, then with his wife as missionaries in Haiti. When he moved to southern Indiana his Dad was vending with the Bloomington Community Farmers' Market as a hobby. Mark helped his father out, saying his "roots brought him back" to farming. In 2007, the Stolls started Gypsy Ridge Farms. The garden space on the property has grown from 3 to 12 acres, including 2 large stove heated greenhouses, 1 hoophouse, and a smaller greenhouse for starts. They use chicken litter and sheet manure from local farmers to feed their produce, and uses pesticides from the White River Co-op. Mark will only spray if he sees pests, not sticking to a spray schedule. Not all produce is chemically treated, however, and Mark is very transparent about which produce was grown with chemicals.
