About Indiana Daffodil Society

Indiana Daffodil Society began in 1990, and since then has been the recipient of bulbs from two of its original members. Through sharing and generosity to other members, Mrs. Link and Mrs. Frey have supported bulb sales of the Indiana Daffodil Society with their original bulb stock. This stock is now grown on the Link and Frey properties, as well as on the property of Sara Kinne.

Mrs. Link began growing daffodils in the 1940s and went on to become a world expert in hybridizing and judging of daffodils. She won many blue ribbons in competition and was awarded the highest honor, the Gold Medal, by the American Daffodil Society. Mrs. Frey met Mrs. Link in the early '50s and was so impressed by her growing fields that she aspired to grow masses of daffodils. Mrs. Frey then became active in IDS and a passionate grower herself.

IDS is committed to promoting our favorite flower and to supporting three $1,000 scholarships to three Indiana colleges in the field of botany, horticulture, landscape architecture, etc. The revenue from bulb sales supports these scholarships.
