About Weber Sugar Camp

Since 1958, when Tom and Dan first tried making maple syrup at their uncle's modest sugar camp, they have been attracted to the mysterious and slippery-to-describe nature of the process. In the '70s we learned a lot, and in the '80s they moved and expanded. In the '90s, they decided to abandon our effort to make a huge quantity and to concentrate on making syrup so clean, natural, good-tasting, and "beyond organic" that it would startle knowledgeable maple syrup consumers. Dan says, "Pardon me for saying-- We have succeeded."

Emily Winter and Rusty Peterson came in as helpers a few years ago and as partners in 2012. They do the tough stuff, and Tom and Dan provide decreasingly helpful guidance and advice. Tom is the lynchpin of the production process. Dan is the retail genius. The syrup is from naturally grown hard maples on a steep slope, collected through clean, air-tight tubing, oiled down in a stainless pan, and filtered. Canned hot, it comes to our customers as perhaps the most natural food they'll ever eat.
