Health Fair and Blood Drive at Farmers’ Market April 7

Bloomington, Ind. - The City of Bloomington Community and Family Resources Department is hosting a Health and Wellness Fair and Blood Drive on Saturday April 7, at City Hall (401 N. Morton). The Health and Wellness Fair, during National Public Health Week, is from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. in the Atrium, while the Blood Drive is 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. in Council Chambers. Registration for the blood drive is online at www.redcrossblood.org, and walk-in appointments are also welcome. The entire event is free and open to the public.

IU Health Monroe County Public Health Clinic will provide health screenings, which include A1C (blood sugar), blood pressure and cholesterol (lipid panel, 8 hour fasting required). The Back and Neck Pain Relief Center and Osmon Chiropractic Center will provide spinal assessments and screenings, and chair massages will be available from Bloomington Community Massage. The Bloomington Lions Club will screen for vision abnormalities. Centerstone will provide depression screenings, and more than twenty public health exhibitors will provide health information and answer questions.

Saturday, April 7 is also the opening day for the Bloomington Community Farmers’ Market. Visit the Health and Wellness Fair while enjoying the market, and donate a pint of blood to wrap up your visit. Donating one pint of blood can save up to three lives.

A special thank you to Crumble Bakery for donating coffee and pastries to the volunteers.
