City of Bloomington Utilities Issues Sanitary Sewer Overflow Advisory

Bloomington, Ind. — The City of Bloomington Utilities has issued a Sanitary Sewer Overflow (SSO) advisory for the following areas after an SSO was confirmed today, Wednesday, January 23.
 

• 300 block West Brookdale Drive

• 1500 North Woodburn Avenue

• 500-600 blocks North Fairview Street

• 700 block West Amy Robinson Drive

• 1100 block East 7th Street
   

The significant amount of recent rainfall coupled with the ongoing snow melt likely caused this SSO.

The clean-up and determination of the amount of flow generated will commence once the overflow has ceased.

Individuals in the aforementioned areas are advised to take precautions when coming into contact with untreated sewage that may have accumulated as a result of this overflow.  Any individual who has come into direct contact with untreated sewage is advised to wash their hands and clothing thoroughly.
