Bryan Park Fitness Station Equipment to be Removed, Replaced This Spring

Bloomington, Ind. — The Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department is continuing to utilize bond funds to invest in quality recreation equipment for public use in city parks.

The fitness station in Bryan Park, located near the Henderson Street parking lot and tot playground, was installed in the park in the 1970s. Plans call for the complete removal of the outdated equipment by Feb. 28, and for the installation of new, state-of-the-art Kompan brand fitness equipment.

According to Parks and Recreation operations coordinator Barb Dunbar, the new fitness equipment will be installed where the old equipment now stands. The new fitness station will cover a larger area to allow room for more pieces, including a suspension trainer and double chest press. Two hard-surface, accessible pathways will connect the new fitness stations to the Bryan Park trail.

The cost for the fitness equipment and installation is $37,168. The equipment was purchased through, and the installation will be done by, Fishers, Ind.-based Recreation InSites, LLC.

The new fitness equipment is scheduled to be completely installed and ready for use by May 3.
