Season Admission Passes Available for Bryan Park, Mills Pools This Summer

Bloomington, Ind. - Two admission changes will increase access to City pools when the annual summer swimming season officially begins May 25. The City of Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department has reduced the daily pool admission fee and is launching a new season-long admission option for frequent visitors to the city's two outdoor pools.

Beginning May 25, daily admission for all ages to both Bryan Park Pool, 1020 S. Woodlawn Ave., and Mills Pool, 1100 W. 14th St., is $5 per person, a reduction of $1 per person over the 2018 admission rates. New this year is a $50 season pass, which allows unlimited visits by one individual to both pools during the 2019 season.

"Swimming is a favorite summer pastime, and we want to ensure that all our residents have access to the city's outdoor pools," said Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department Administrator Paula McDevitt. "We hope that the reduced admission fee, and an affordable season pass option along with the availability of pool admission fee waivers, means that anyone who wants to use the pools will be able to do so."

During past pool seasons, the city sold 10-, 20-, and 50-punch passes that allowed for the corresponding number of pool visits at a discounted rate. Last fall, at the request of residents, the Board of Park Commissioners approved a season-long, one-price admission option so that more families could participate in summer swimming activities. Punch passes sold prior to 2019 will be honored for pool admission through Sept. 2, 2019.

Prior to May 25, season admission passes will be available for sale at the following dates, times, and locations:

  • Sunday, May 5 from noon-4 p.m. at the Twin Lakes Recreation Center, 1700 W. Bloomfield Rd.

  • Saturday, May 18 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at Mills Pool

  • Sunday, May 19 from noon-4 p.m. at Bryan Park Pool

  • Wednesday, May 22 from 4-8 p.m. at Bryan Park Pool

  • Friday, May 24 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Bryan Park Pool is open with free admission as part of the Summer Kickoff Celebration taking place at Bryan Park. Season passes will be available for purchase during this time.

After Friday, May 24, season passes may be purchased at Bryan Park Pool only. Season passes may be purchased with cash, check, or credit card.

Pool admission fee waiver applications are available from the Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department beginning April 15. Fee waivers may be granted to individuals or families who live within Bloomington's municipal boundaries; proof of residency is required. Federal Office of Management and Budget's guidelines of 150% of poverty level are used to determine eligibility. For more information about pool admission fee waivers, or about what documentation is needed to apply for a fee waiver, call 812.349.3700 or visit bloomington.in.gov/parks/registration.

Mills Pool is open from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. daily, May 25 through Aug. 4. Bryan Park Pool is open from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. daily, May 25 through Aug. 6. Hours shift to a back-to-school schedule of 3:30-7 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays,  and 11 a.m.-7 p.m. on weekends, from Aug. 8 until Labor Day, Sept. 2.
