POSITION DESCRIPTION

Full charge management of maintenance activities for the 6 mgd Blucher Poole Waste Water Treatment Plant. Supervises a call-in maintenance crew from other city facilities and acts as a liaison between plant operators, maintenance personnel and the Plant Superintendent. Evaluates electrical and mechanical equipment problems and assigns repair/replacement tasks to maintenance personnel. Contracts with commercial contractors to effect repair and replacement of equipment. Implements preventative maintenance program. Evaluates plant equipment, scheduling and directing necessary repairs. Reviews, prioritizes, and assigns department maintenance work orders. Maintains physical inventory of all necessary materials and supplies, submits requisitions as needed, and makes recommendations regarding long-term inventory concerns.

EDUCATION

Minimum knowledge equivalent to a high school education plus up to 18 months of additional training.

TRAINING/SKILLS

Ability to supervise, manage, and direct the daily activities of subordinate personnel, and to effectively schedule various maintenance programs. Demonstrated knowledge of the operation and maintenance of water and waste water treatment process controls and equipment is required. Must be familiar with the rules and regulations of the State of Indiana and the USEPA regarding the operation of a NPDES-permitted treatment plant.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum experience equivalent to over three years through five years in a comparable position.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION

Class III or higher Waste Water Treatment Plant Operator license is preferred. Valid Indiana Driver’s License.

HOURS

7:00am – 3:00pm, Monday – Friday. Other as needed.

SALARY

$36,638- $62,385
