POSITION DESCRIPTION

Maintains continuing plant operations under normal and emergency conditions by scheduling all personnel, overseeing equipment operations, and monitoring plant performance in meeting water quality standards. Evaluates employee performance ensuring proper work procedures, practices and compliance with department policy. Analyzes plant operations and construction projects. Conducts field inspections. Develops and recommends operational improvements as necessary. Periodically performs the duties of plant operator and solids handling supervisor in the event of their absence. Ability to be on 24-hour call for emergency situations.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in engineering. Three or more years of experience in in-plant experience in wastewater treatment facility operations. Minimum of two years of experience as a direct supervisor.

TRAINING/SKILLS

Ability to successfully oversee and direct all aspects of operating a wastewater treatment plant, including chemical testing of water quality, the solids handling division, and ability to supervise and direct the activities of a wide range of plant personnel. Knowledge and understanding of all applicable federal, state, and local regulations regarding plant operations and water quality, solids handling and land application. Ability to schedule and coordinate the daily activities of subordinate personnel and maintain the effective operation of all plant equipment and personnel. Working knowledge of office procedures and ability to maintain files and records and use standard office equipment.

LICENSE

Class IV Wastewater Treatment Plant certification preferred and must be obtained within first year of employment. Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle.

HOURS

7:30am – 4:30pm, Monday – Friday.

SALARY

$60,000 - $72,828
