Position Description

Conduct assigned aquatic classes in a safe, professional manner, maintain current and accurate records, foster good public relations. Take directions from Swim Lesson Supervisor, Pool Manager, Pool Supervisor, and Waterfront Directors; foster good public relations. Help with cleaning and maintenance of of the facility, enforce rules and safety policies. All other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Education

High school education or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Some college preferred.

Training/Special Skills

Demonstrated good judgement in working with the public preferred.

License/Certification

First Aid and CPR-PRO preferred. These courses will be offered by the Parks and Recreation Department.

Experience

Previous teaching experience desirable.

Hours

Bryan Park Pool classes are scheduled from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and/or 5 to 9 p.m. weekdays, June through August. Mills Pool classes are held Saturdays between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m., June through August. Private swim lessons will also be available during normal pool operating hours.

Salary

$10.17-$11.28 per hour, depending on certification and experience

Students attending Indiana University may submit applications to the Student Employment Office at 625 N. Jordan. Applications are available at the City of Bloomington Parks and Recreation main office and at the Student Employment Office. Applications will be accepted through July 31, 2018. Review of applications begins Jan. 16, 2018.
