Garden Plots Available for Rent at City's Community Gardens

Bloomington, Ind. - The City of Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department will open registration for the rental of garden plots starting Feb. 20 on a first-come, first-served basis. Rental plots are located in Willie Streeter Community Gardens at Winslow Woods Park, and in the Butler Park Community Gardens in Rev. Ernest D. Butler Park.

Garden plot registration will remain open until all plots are rented.

Services provided in the gardens include the initial preparation of the garden area, water sources, maintained paths, composting facilities, fencing, the advice of the garden staff, and other resources for gardeners. Communal tools are available for use at scheduled times during the week. Adaptive tools, and wheelchair-accessible raised garden beds, are also available.

Both gardens have plenty of conveniently located parking and are accessible on Bloomington Transit bus routes./p>

All registration materials needed to rent a garden plot can be downloaded from the Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department website at bloomington.in.gov/community-gardening, or obtained from the Bloomington Parks and Recreation office. Registration and payments for community garden plots must be submitted in person at the Parks and Recreation office at 401 N. Morton St. Suite 250 (inside City Hall), from 8 a.m. through 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
