The Active Living Coalition is comprised of individuals and organizations in Bloomington that represent all areas of fitness, wellness, nutrition, and active living. Active Living Coalition members include representatives from health care, health and nutrition education, city and county parks and recreation departments, businesses with a focus on fitness, wellness, and active living, and service organizations that promote healthy, active lifestyles throughout the Bloomington community.

What We Do

  • Improve overall health and wellness by developing educational materials and coordinating health events
  • Develop walking guides for Bloomington's trails and streets
  • Coordinate community walks and health fairs
  • Write and submit grants
  • Compile local wellness resources to post on this site
  • Host employee wellness policy workshops

Get Involved!

The Active Living Coalition is open to all who have a passion for improving health and wellness of people who live, work, and visit Monroe County. participation ranges from keeping abreast of activities and events to participating in and leading collaborative projects. Areas of participation are:

  1. Networking Participant
    Exchange information with other coalition participants, receive monthly meeting minutes and announcements, and (optional) attend monthly meetings
  2. Active Participant
    Exchange information with other coalition participants, receive monthly meeting minutes and announcements, regularly attend monthly meetings, assist with coordination of meetings, projects, and events
  3. Collaborative Participant
    Exchange information with other coalition participants, receive monthly meeting minutes and announcements, regularly attend monthly meetings, assist with coordination of meetings, projects, and events, facilitate task force meetings and projects

 

Goals

The Active Living coalition is expanding its scope to further assess ways to increase capacity and engagement among internal and external partners, and strengthen collaboration, programming, policy, and environmental initiatives.

Active Living Coalition meetings are open to all interested individuals and organizations. There is no membership or fee required to attend.
