Bikes Week Celebrate Bloomington Bikes month in May with several events that will get you rolling.

Learn to Ride

Spend the entire summer cruising on your bicycle after this Bloomington Bikes Week class. Beginning bike reiders learnn how to confidently and safely ride their bikes thorugh individual instruction, and also learn about bike maintenance, road safety, and proper bike and helmet fittings. Each participant receives a free bike helmet and must bring a bicycle without training wheels. Parents are encouraged to participate, and must reamain on site. Class will meet indoors at the Frank Southern Ice Arena in case of inclement weather. For ages 5-9 yrs. with parent.

Women's Ride

Try out some of the bicycle facilities that make commuting by bike in Bloomington safer and more fun. This one-hour ride is an opportunity to get ready for Bike to Work Day! Instructor: Jacqui Bauer. For ages 16 yrs. and up.

Bike Commuter 101

Biking is the best way to travel. This two-hour class will answer your questions on how to bike commute safely and efficiently. We will specifically talk about tips on rhythm, pace, clothing, and local routes that will make your daily commute successful. For ages 16 yrs. and up.

Celebrate National bike to Work Day, part of bloomington Bikes Month. Stay active,s ave money, and reduce your carbon footprint-all on your way to work! Registered riders will be entered into a drawing to win healthy food and gift certificates to local bike shops.

Historic Bloomington Bike Tour

Catch glimpses of Bloomington's fascinating history from the seat of your bicycle. Meet at Showers Plaza in front of City Hall for a one-hour ride through history. Please wear a bicycle helmet. Instructors: Duncan Campbell and Dave Harstad. For ages 16 yrs. and up.

Bike Rodeo

Volunteer logo The Bike Rodeo is a free, family-oriented event that both entertains and educates children on cycling safety and the importance of wearing bike helmets. Participants can bike through an obstacle course, enjoy healthy snacks, and learn something new! Please bring your own bike. A few bikes will be available for use in the Rodeo. For ages 4-12 yrs. w/parent. Participation is free, and registration is not required.
