Feces on stairs, landing and walls of the second floor stairwell in College Square apartments building B. complex notified but has failed to clean it up. It is a health and safety issue
See case #186558. Property is being gutted. No permit posted. Monroe County Building department says a permit, but does not appear to care to enforce their own rules and issue a stop work order until permit is obtained. If the property owners are friends with the inspectors, do they get special treatment?
See case #186242. Not as much sewage right now due to tenants being on break this week, but the problem has not been corrected. Once it gets cold and the tenants return, the constant flow of sewage on the sidewalk will create an ice hazard in addition to the already present infection/contamination hazard. Please force property owner to correct the problem ASAP, and at least before winter. If the Planning is allowing him to build more (unneeded) rentals in the neighborhood (e.g., E. Cottage Grove), he should be required to perform at least some upkeep of the ones he is already responsible for.
Ceiling caving in. Mold. Homeless people breaking into vacant and rented apartments. Graffiti. MOLD. ROACHES.
There is a loose cord from one end of the building in the grass to the “office” unit of the apartment complex. This presents a personal safety hazard to myself and my animal.
More than one person is sick with bronchitis in multiple units in the building. The doctor states that bronchitis can be caused by materials that pollute indoor air. I know that we all share one furnace where one unit has control over the temperature of all six apartments in the building. There was questionable contaminated water that was sitting in a unit for the month that the residents were getting sick; it was plunged down the drained Monday 11/7. Though the water is not there anymore, the health and safety of the ventilation & air quality is still in question. I also cannot open the windows easily to the whole apartment to let fresh air in (is that a fire hazard?)
Smoke detectors non working beeping over a week, one has been hanging from my son room ceiling, I have told staff in regards of being freightened it will fall on him also have reported it to them in writing. The microwave light has been out as well as two in my bathroom in which I've asked them to reach several times and I am disabled with hip replacements so it isn't a possibility for me to do so. Stairway has harmful items blocking the door. Stairway has harmful items such as Ziploc bag next to a needle appearing to not have a covering so the pointy tip side is visibly out and I notified staff in case a child or anyone incidentally gets hurt or stabbed with it. Window screen appears to have huge slit in it Heat not working all winter and fall in which I personally purchased a small portable heater. All detectors beeps but they do not assist me to replace making me very concerned for my safety.
Bedbugs in location. Apartment-wide issue. Please involve health department.
This house seems to be abandoned, yet it doesn't seem like the city has taken any steps to appropriately secure the area or take care of landscaping etc.
The next door building just north of my building has been boarded up since I've been in my current location since October and has now seemed to have part of the back wood torn apart and a hold has been opened up for what I'm guessing in entrance/exit for the ever growing number of homeless in my area that are probably squatting inside for shelter at night. I've heard that this building was overpopulated with homeless last year until it was boarded up and fenced off. They use the slats of wood you see to the hole to the to 'close' when they're not there and then a piece of wood on the interior from the inside at night. Not only is the building an eyesore for the area, but the amount of homeless trekking through the alley and hanging out behind and beside my business is increasing and unsafe. I have customers, children and family that park in the back parking lot and I do not feel safe having them park there with this building being opened back up by the homeless to do whatever they're doing in there.
