Mary Friedman originally emailed the Office of the Mayor January 14th, 2016 complaining that this property had been abandoned for the last 5 years. At that time coyotes were living in the home. However, she emailed again October 19th, 2016, saying the property is now being occupied by a group of homeless people.
I am not sure what the owner of this building has planned, but it seems there has seem some slow work done to the house since my husband and I have bought and renovated our home a year and a half ago. In this time, we have seen animals come and go from this abandoned house, seemingly homeless people come and go from the basement and the windows boarded up. This home is in utter disarray. With so many homes in the prospect hill area being renovated and maintaining the historical feel, this is one of the few if not the only home that is a major eye sore on our neighborhood. I am not sure if there can be anything done legally to motivate the owner to do renovations more quickly or to just tear it town. Any thoughts would be very much appreciated to address this problem. Thank you very much for your time and consideration!
Daniel Perez reported that this address has a large and unsafe amount of broken glass around their front yard. This broken glass has been here for weeks apparently and the residents have put in no effort to clean up.
Dear Sir or Madam: My wife and I own Shean Properties Ltd. and the property at 1114 North College Avenue in Bloomington. Directly to the north of our building is 1116 North College Avenue which is owned by Robert Grabbe. His home has been a mess since we acquired this property in 1994. I believe that Mr. Grabbe has abandoned the building. The postal carrier has told us that homeless people are living inside. The lawn has not been cut in months and I haven’t seen Mr. Grabbe in 3 months. It is time for the City to exercise its authority under the Unsafe Building Law and remedy this situation. At the very least the grass should be cut and the broken windows boarded up. Thanks, John John H. Shean, Esq. SHEAN LAW OFFICES, P.C. 1114 N. 703 E 11th St home has big hole in side window. It looks as if someone threw an object through the window. I saw it on my way to work at 11am, and it was unchanged at 6pm when I returned. No cars in the driveway so I just wanted to be sure whoever owns the house is notified.
Citizen states there is a shed by a bank that may be unsafe.
