Street Dept. is installing a handicap ramp in front of his property. He says that the property is not handicap accessible and that there shouldn't be a ramp there. Sidewalk crews told him that they are required to put in ramps per ADA.
Sidewalk on Maple from 5th to 6th was recently replaced. While it needed to be replaced, this was a historic sidewalk as are many on the west side. Policy should be developed to preserve historic sidewalks in original condition when repairing/replacing.
8TH & ADAMS STREET REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT: HALL STATES THAT THE SIDEWALK IS SPALDING VERY BADLY. HE WOULD LIKE TO HAVE SOMEONE FROM THE CITY COME AND WALK THE SITE WITH HIM. HALL STATES THAT THIS IS "THE WORST JOB HE HAS EVER SEEN".
After traffic calming device was installed at the corner of 3rd and Rogers, sidewalk had to be realigned. Realigning meant tree had to be dug up and the lawn in this area was never fixed. See letter
Mr. Madsen called to express his concern about the efficiency of tax money on the sidewalk sweeper the City just purchased. He believes the City merchants should sweep their own sidewalks, and in the winter should shovel their own walks to better promote people to use the dowtown area. sidewalk torn up in the 300 block, in front of Taco Bell (think by gas company) and was never repaired. Has been out for awhile and is a hazard to pedestrians (Carol I also think they did not repair the sidewalk next to Alice's house on Morton and 10th. You may want to address both of these walks with them)
Sidewalk has lifted due to tree roots
I just took possession of a home I bought as sidewalk construction on E. Morningside was being completed. The home is at 4021 E. Morningside. It is my understanding the City redid part of the driveway after having to destroy it for sidewalk work. Unfortunately it appears a corner of the drive (front right / SE) is already cracking/chipping/spalling (see photo). I'm requesting the City patch this up before it continues to flake (not huge now but would like addressed so as not to spread) as an area driven over frequently. Otherwise looks fantastic and very happy with the new sidewalk and drive portion. Great neighborhood addition.
I feel like the city should know that I broke my foot walking down the horrible Near West Side sidewalk last week.
